KILN/BOILER OPERATOR

 A Boiler/Kiln Operator operates/maintains a wood fueled boiler and to produce lumber with specified moisture content by kiln drying while meeting our high product quality standards. They also maintain lumber flow from the sawmill out feed through the kilns.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operates boiler maintaining required pressure and steam flow.
  • Monitor fuel in silo and be able to keep it at certain levels
  • Dry lumber of all sorts using computer to control kiln
  • Operate forklift to load and unload kilns, change kilns, and dump hopper
  • Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations
  • Comprehend and comply with Job Safety Analysis
  • Monitor kilns all throughout shift and make adjustments as needed
  • Cover sawmill/planer drivers when necessary
  • Clean work areas
  • Help with new hire training and cross training of existing team members
  • Other duties as directed by supervisor

  

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be safety conscious, self-directed and team oriented
  • Willing to work various shifts including nights and weekends.
  • Successfully pass post offer physical exam, drug screen, and background check
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs., climb stairs, repetitive bending, kneeling, stretching, pushing and pulling, continuous walking and/or standing

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Previous Boiler/Kiln experience. 
  • Boiler license
