KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Scale logs per Idaho State Scaling manual and practices. Process all incoming log trucks. Inspect all log trucks using established guidelines for log grading and document activities. Communicate with sawmill operations and foresters on log quality issues. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must have a current Idaho Scalers License
  • Must be within allowable limits on check scales
  • Must be safety oriented and alert
  • Must have experience with hand held data recorder and able to download information into the log accounting system
  • Must have an aptitude for arithmetic and good communication skills
  • Ability to measure accurately
  • Ability to adjust work schedule, perform shift work and work overtime as needed
  • Honest and unbiased and realize the responsibitlity a scaler has to the buyer and seller
